6 US soldiers in Poland injured after their vehicle ‘swerved off the road’

Military News

Six soldiers in Poland were injured on Sunday after their nine-passenger van “swerved off the road, hit an embankment and rolled over,” the Army confirmed to Task & Purpose on Monday.

The soldiers, from the 500th Engineer Support Company, 15th Engineer Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, were “conducting a routine administrative movement…to pick-up military equipment,” Army Maj. Selwyn Johnson told Task & Purpose in an email.

Following the accident, the soldiers were taken to three different area hospitals. Four have since been released, and two are still hospitalized and in stable condition. It’s unclear why the soldiers were not taken to the same hospital.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Army and local law enforcement, Johnson said.
